What does PayGate do?

PayGate is a specialist credit card payment services provider. We offer online, batch and Point of Sale payment services to help you get paid by your customers.
We have a number of clients in many different industries and have been operating since 1996.

Do you distribute Point of Sale machines?

We do not distribute Point of Sale 'swipe' machines. Our Point of Sale service is Internet based so that you do not need to install any additional hardware or software.

Do I need a merchant account to use your services?

Yes, you will need an Internet merchant account at one of our supported banks to use our services. We will assist you in applying for this account when you first sign up with us.

I already have a merchant account for a credit card machine. Can I use this merchant account for your services?

No. This will help to speed up the process, but you will need to sign an 'Internet addendum' to your merchant agreement with the bank.

What are your charges?

To request a price list, please fill in the Price Request form. We will then forward you a copy of our most recent price list as well as any other information you may require regarding our products and services.

How can I sign up with you?

Please fill in the Get Connected form. This form acts as an initial application for a PayGate account. We will forward your contact details to a Merchant Consultant at your bank who will contact you with the necessary application forms to open the merchant account required to use our services.

If I sign up, how long will it be before I can accept payments?

This depends on the time it takes for your bank account to be opened. We have made connecting to PayGate as quick and easy as possible by making all of the technical documents for our services available on the Download page. This will help your developers to connect to us and get your site working before your bank opens your merchant account. If you are using our Virtual Point of Sale service (PayPoint), then no development is necessary.

Will you design my website for me?

PayGate is a specialist payment services provider. We focus on providing easy to use, reliable and secure, online payment processing services to our merchants. We do not offer any additional web design or development services. However we will do our best to refer you to a web development company in your area.

Can I accept credit card payments from my overseas customers?

Using PayGate you can accept payments from all major credit cards issued anywhere in the world. (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club).

Can I accept payment in a currency other than my local currency?

This varies between countries and banks, but if you would like to advertise your product or service in a different currency to the currency which your bank accepts, then we have a service to help you.
PayFX is a service which we have integrated seamlessly into our PayWeb payment service. PayFX takes care of the currency conversion and transparently advises your client that currency conversion is taking place.

Once I receive a payment on my site, how long until I get the money?

As transactions are processed directly to your merchant account at the bank, you do not need to wait for a payout from a combined account. On average it takes the bank 1-2 days to transfer the money from your customer's credit card to your account.

I am worried about customers committing credit card fraud, what can you do to protect me?

Our web payment services are designed to facilitate 3D Secure processing. 3D Secure (MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa) is an online credit card security system provided by MasterCard and Visa and supported by many banks world wide. If a card has been registered for 3D Secure, the card holder will be prompted to enter a PIN number as identification before the transaction can be processed. We have also developed PayProtector - our proprietary fraud and risk screening service. This service has proved to be very successful in combating fraud for many of our clients. We offer 3 versions of this service to best suit your requirements. We have made PayProtector as cost effective as possible. It works quietly in the background, either stand alone or in conjunction with 3D Secure, and helps to prevent fraudulent transactions from being processed on your account.

Can I use PayGate to process mobile transactions?

Yes, our PayXML product is ideally suited to mobile.
PayXML gives you full control over the look and feel of the payment page. This allows your developer to handle the challenge of content presentation and layout on the mobile device in a way that suits your application.

Can I use PayGate to process recurring transactions?

Yes, our PaySubs product has been designed with recurring billing in mind.
